History Details For - Boston Riots

8/14/1765
After the Stamp Acts were passed, a series of public distrurbances started in Boston. The first night of the disturbances started on August 14, 1765. A group of 50 demonstrators (along with several hundred townspeople) first destroyed a building near the waterfront that Andrew Oliver was to use as his stamp office, then destroyed his house.

Less than 2 weeks after the incident at Oliver's house, another mob formed and attacked/destroyed the house of Governor Hutchinson. It was fortunate for Hutchinson that his family begged him to leave the house when he sent them away because he probably would have been killed.
